This page was originally created to serve as the main ACE page at
the Bryn Mawr location in the summer of 1998, but it underwent major
changes before a modified version was used instead. Therefore, my version
resides here instead, as a tribute to the 8 weeks I spent working for ACE
that summer.
ACE is dedicated to teaching
programming and general computing to campers between the ages of 7 and
16 in a fun, educational, supportive and safe environment. Students can
attend between one and eight of the one-week sessions held between June
19th and August 14th, 1998.
Here on Bryn Mawr College's beautiful
campus, the campers learned everything from general applications like MS
Office97 to Bryce-3D to programming languages such as Basic and C, or
wrote web pages with HTML and some Java.
Along with the more academic bent of programming, campers enjoyed frequent
breaks for computer game time with the latest technology in graphics and
networked gaming. And for time away from the computer screen, there is
plenty of outdoor time (can't let those muscles atrophy!) covering
everything from swimming in the Bryn Mawr pool or playing soccer, Ameoba
Tag or bocce on Denbigh Green.
Bryn Mawr is run by a Camp Director and an Assistant/Academic Director,
supported by a great staff of Teachers, Junior Teachers and Counselors in
Training.
