Important Note: I last checked these rates January 14th for the exact weekend (April 19-21, 2002) of the wedding. Neither I nor the hotels can guarantee that the rates will be *exactly* what I have listed here. The information I've gathered is meant to be informative and as helpful as possible, but I highly recommend that you double-check rates on the website and/or by calling the hotel yourself, once you think you've decided on accomodations. Shippenway Inn Although I've never been there, this 9-room, 1750's restored Bed & Breakfast was voted Best B&B in Philly by Citysearch.com for 2000.

Marriott Hotels Marriott Hotels has an incredibly extensive web site; it can locate all Marriott-owned hotels in the area, and also give you rates (and the ability to make reservations online) for the hotel you've selected. There are quite a few in center city. Additional Marriotts in the area, besides those listed below, will have varying rates, which you can also check on their web site.

  • The Philadelphia Marriott, which I believe is only a few blocks from the PAFA museum.
    Rates: $265-$309/night, for 1 king or 2 double beds.
    Address/Distance: 1201 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107, only 0.4 miles (6-7 blocks) from the PAFA.

  • The Courtyard Philadelphia Downtown
    Rates:Between $79-$250/night: $79 for a king, $169 for 2 double or 2 queen beds, or $250 for a suite.
    Address: 21 North Juniper St (at Filbert Street), Philadelphia, PA. )nly 0.58 miles (3 blocks) from the PAFA.

    Additional Information All rooms have coffee makers and 2-line phones and dataports.

  • The Fairfield Inn Philadelphia Airport
    Rates: Weekend rates are $79.95-$89.95/night, with 1 queen, 2 queen, 1 king, or 1 king & sofa rooms, holding a maximum of 3-5 people each.
    Address/Distance: Located at 8800 Bartram Ave. in Philadelphia, it is 8 miles from center city (and therefore the PAFA, City Hall, or Philadelphia Museum of Art), but only half a mile from the Philadelphia Airport.

    Additional Information: All rates include a complimentary breakfast. The hotel boasts an indoor pool, and the rooms have irons, ironing boards, dataports on the phones, and cable TV.

  • Embassy Suites Hotels Like Marriott, there are a couple of options for Embassy Suites hotels in Philadelphia. Check the Embassy Suites web site (owned by Hilton) web site for more information.

  • The rate for the Embassy Suites Hotel Philadelphia-Center City
    Rates: $229/night, breakfast included, for a non-smoking suite with either 2 double or 1 king-sized bed.
    Address/Distance: 1776 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy, Philadelphia, PA 19103.
    In Center City near the Philadelphia Museum of Art on Ben Franklin Parkway, the hotel also only a handful of blocks (0.4 miles) from the reception at the PAFA museum, and therefore within walking distance.

  • The rate for the Embassy Suites Hotel Philadelphia-Airport
    Rates: $129-$169/night, including breakfast, for a non-smoking room with 1 king-sized or 2 double beds.
    Address/Distance: Although farther from the reception site, it's only 1 mile from the airport, with free shuttle service.
