A Feature Poem

Like a female justice in Bush v.Gore
To the rationale that al Qaeda is linked to Saddam, which is skewed to the
core
By our current administration's militaristic imperialism fueled by
profit
From oil and government contracts combined with our arsenal create a world
in which no one is safe, not one bit.
Pay attention.
This chickenhawk administration
Has not served one day serving our nation
(But rather self-interests and corporations)
In combat as active duty
But we have generals now who routinely
Repeat that war should be a last resort -
Real blood, real experience, and a real good way to breed more hate
Which with global exploitation, declining environment, and lack of
opportunity will only perpetuate
Because it embodies most of the ideals that we claim to have fought
Against in the past.
Do you realize this?
When will the social inequities and racial profiling
That has been snowballing since 9/11
Along with the rollback of civil rights
And cutbacks in healthcare and education funding
In order to fund a unilateral war?
To distract us from our illegitimate administration's oppressive
policy
(At least Saddam was elected with a majority of his popular vote
recently)
The lack of diplomacy is embarrassing
Along with racist, sexist, heterosexist, anti-woman, anti-child,
anti-choice
Propaganda that is pro-hate, pro-gun, and pro-the only top 1%'s voice.
This country is in a flat spin
And no international allies will (or should) help us to win.
Work towards justice, not war.
Senator Wellstone was an inspirational seat against a blank check for this
created war
Who will be deeply missed! Others should strive to achieve his
tenacity,
To work or the good of the people and not an aristocracy.
The government should work to help all citizens through these tough
times
And work on fixing social ills instead of pointing fingers around the
globe while shouting machismo lines.
Follow the bombs, the tears, the ills, and the true possible horror -
Loss and injury more than most realize is in store.
And then how will this Administration sidetrack us again, an international
joke
We're preempting World War III and all will choke
On it.
Won't you help to stop this?
Bush is posing fundamental capitalism against fundamental Islam and it
isn't right!
Won't you join me in the fight?
What good is your legal education if we will be vaporized by war a year
from now?
WE have to stop this and how
Can you? Speak out, write, protest, and inform you reps that this
unchecked administration needs to refocus
On diplomacy and an interest in the well being of all people (without
bias).
If one dissent falls on deaf ears in a law school does it still influence
social change?
I dissent.
