PAD shines at int'l convention

Takes top awards for outstanding chapter, programs

The William Paterson Chapter of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity,
International at Seton Hall University School of Law received highest
honors at the Centennial International Convention this past August in
Phoenix, Arizona.
Out of 183 law school chapters worldwide, Seton Hall's Paterson
Chapter was selected as the Stanley H. Kohn Outstanding Chapter
2001-2002.
Justice Holly Peterson '03 accepted the award at the International
Banquet on behalf of the entire membership with Alumni Advisor Stuart M.
Nachbar and 2001-2002 Frank E. Gray Outstanding Chapter Clerk Dawn
Sullivan '03. Justice Peterson was Alex P. Hotchkiss Outstanding Chapter
Justice runner-up.
Paterson Chapter's outstanding events this past year earned two
additional awards. The Best Professional Program Award went to Judges'
Night. The Judicial Internship Pro-gram received a third place nod from
the International Board.

Seton Hall's Paterson Chapter of Phi Alpha Delta initiated 146 new members
into the International Law Fraternity on October 25th, 2002, a new record
at Seton Hall Law and the second highest in the international fraternity
in 100 years. The ceremony was held in the law school auditorium, followed

Paterson was recognized for its 100 percent membership increase,
and was deemed the most Outstanding Chapter in District XXII, which
encompasses New Jersey, Delaware and Pennsylvania.
Chapter delegates Peterson and Sullivan were also recognized by
the International Board for their service during the convention, serving
on the Nominations, Credentialing and Constitution and By-Laws
Committees.
Past International Justice Cliff Schechter stated that Paterson
Chapter is by far the "best law school chapter in the entire
fraternity."
Following Paterson Chapter's recent initiation, Schechter extended
further praise, stating, the Executive Board has .done a fantastic job
navigating this chapter, all the while stressing quality programming, and
adherence to our mission of service to the student, the law school, the
profession and the community."
Current International Justice Curtis Anderson says he "expects
great things from Paterson Chapter and its members."
PAD International Advocate John Weitkamp sent his regards via a
letter in which he stated, "Your chapter, its officers and members have
truly taken our motto to heart and have advanced the principles and ideals
of Phi Alpha Delta. ... Your efforts this year have also been exemplary
and of the highest order. It is indeed a pleasure to bask in the glow.
that your members have generated."
